A commitment with the MICE sector with the Punta Cancun Alliance is confirmed

Under the presence and conformation of 12 private companies among which stand out hotels, DMCs, tour operators as well as an airline and the Cancun International Convention Center, the Punta Cancun Alliance project was created, which seeks to stimulate the potential of the meetings industry in the destiny.

With a potential economic development of the MICE sector in the region equivalent to 89,397.550 million dollars after the completion of more than 76 events with an attendance of just over 150 thousand congressmen and convention participants in the last 7 years.

Félix Arroyo, President of Alianza Punta Cancún pointed out that in 2018, 18 nominations were held to attract and organize different events, of which 14 have already been awarded, and three are still in the process of being selected, which means a certainty of event of 78% captured.

In this way, after signing and forming this alliance, in this event a collaboration agreement was also signed between the Tourist Promotion Council of Quintana Roo (CPTQ) and the Tourism Ministry (Sedetur).

For his part, Jair Lopez, Director Cancun International Convention Center, said that this is one of the most important alliances that have materialized in the region, where the main protagonists of the exhibition sector, congresses, conventions and incentive trips. They will join efforts and commitments to position Cancun as a united destination and ready to attract any type of national or international event.

So far in 2019, 10 congresses have been confirmed, including the congress of the Mexican Association of Endoscopic Surgery, the 34th Pan American Congress of Ophthalmology, the 12th Congress & Meeting of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopedic Sport Medicine as well as a significant number of events such as exhibitions and fairs.

With special guests such as the President of the Mexican Council of the Meetings Industry, Marisol Vanegas, Secretary of Tourism of Quintana Roo and Darío Flota, CPTQ holder, Felix Arroyo, stressed that this alliance and its initiatives are expected to continue strengthening the presence of Cancun in the market of meetings and congresses not only national but globally.
